The subject of this charming publication is fairly highbrow. With a potpourri of investigations into international ties in an age of continual changes in contemporary modern art it is not always easy to get everyone facing in the same direction. Even so, you don’t have to be an expert in the subject to enjoy the skill and expertise that have gone into the making of this book of 667 pages. It will be readily seen, for example, that the whole is composed of four parts: this is reflected not only in the colours of the book block but also in the photography of the book band, if you unfold it.

 

The wide-ranging information, including a collection of cartoons, texts, images and a combination of these, furnishes a library-full of typography – but it is a library in which everything stands neatly on the shelve.

A publication so well designed, edited and produced is even capable of seducing someone not that interested in the subject into opening it, reading it and possibly even forming an opinion of it! Surely a sign that, as a centre for contemporary art, you really have achieved some of your goals.
