Versatile Volumes – The Best Dutch Book Designs Meet Korean Artists’ Books. This it the title of the exhibition at the KF Gallery in Seoul (23 June – 19 August). The exhibition commemorates the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea. Audiences are able to enjoy this exhibition both in person at the KF Gallery and virtually via the KF’s website.

Besides The Best Dutch Book Designs 2019, 17 artists’ books from Korea are shown. Korean curator and Art Book Press president Cho Sookhyun selected the books based on their artist distinctiveness.  Versatile Volumes symbolizes the diversity and artistry of the books but also challenges the conservative perceptions of the book as a medium.

Team Thursday is responsible for the design of the exhibition (central exhibition table and graphic design). Team Thursday also made the catalogue of the selection 2019. One important feature of the catalogue and the exhibition are the beautiful photographs made by the Seoul artist Kyoungtae EH. Kim. (Insta @kyoungtae.eh.kim)

In Beijing the abC Bookfair was held from 9 – 11 July, and the Dutch Embassy in Beijing has introduced The Best Dutch Book Designs 2019 as an international entry at this fair.

With many thanks to the Dutch Embassies in Seoul and Beijing and Dutch Culture.
